Abstract

Greece attempted to implement violence, persecution and massacre against Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus since the years 1950s in order to exterminate, and finally these acts arrive at the point of being a “genocide” on the island. Similarly, sovereignty of the Epirus district of the Balkans at the beginning of the 20th century as being accepted ethnic minority under the governance of Greece had been ceded to Greece in line with the related articles of the 1913 Ambassadors Conference. And these native folks had been exposed to a tragic fate created by the Greeks during the years of the 2nd World War. The main purpose of this paper is to examine the genocide claims imposed on Çameria Albanians by the Greeks between 27 June 1944 and March 1945 during II. WW in Çameria region, which is located in Epirus between Albania and Greece in the Western Balkans. In this frame, firstly 20th-century-Albanian-Greek relations and issues will be defined in general; Then Çameria and Çameria Albanians that form the key-point of the issues between two states will be outlined. Later on, the reasons and details of the genocide claims imposed on Çameria Albanians by the Greeks will be examined, and then developments following genocide will be reviewed. At last, a final evaluation regarding the main issue will try to put an end at the research.
