Abstract

Along with globalization, businesses are required to keep under constant observation of their production processes (Luo et.al., 2015: 196). As a result of these efforts, idle time and idle production capacity can be used by gaining them into production (Mudalidharan et.al., 2014: 274). This study is carried out in order to balance the production and storage lines of a metal household items manufacturing firm by using operations research and advanced manufacturing technology acquisition methodology. With this aim the literature is reviewed in detail (Liu et.al., 2016: 307). Previous studies are examined in terms of topic, scope, methods and findings. In the light of these findings, a job analysis is conducted in production and storage lines of the firm (Molnar et al., 2016: 21). The results of the analysis revealed that the enterprise faces a great deal of problems in terms of push-pull operations. By the use of a derived mathematical modelling, the machine infrastructure of the enterprise is balanced (Zeng et al., 2015: 232). Besides these, acquisition of a conveyor belt accelerated the flow of business. Also, complexity of the processes has been corrected. The results depicted that significant improvements are achieved in terms of efficiency. It also demonstrates the coordination of the academy with the industry can create significant implications for both academicians and practitioners.
