Abstract

With the impact of globalization in the 21st century, the increase of transportation, communication, trade and socio-cultural relations among the countries also affects the economies of the present countries. The economic crisis in any country can cause a bigger economic crisis in another country in a very short period of time. Although a number of measures are taken in this direction, there are damages in different dimensions depending on the power of the economic structures of the region or countries where crises have been experienced. One such crisis is the 2008 global economic crisis. In 2007, the United States first felt in the field of finance, the crisis that broke out in 2008 has gained a global dimension by spreading to most of the countries of the world and has caused problems such as poverty and increasing unemployment. The adverse effects resulting from the decrease in demand in many countries after the ongoing crisis have caused the contraction of the real sector in Turkey. Thus, one of the most significant impacts of the crisis on Turkey, which felt the influence of the whole countries of the world, was in the field of real sector. In this study, the global crisis, which started in the middle of 2007 and started to show its effect in 2008 the effects on unemployment in Turkey and the fiscal policy measures put into practice to reduce unemployment have been examined.
