Abstract

Employees maintain most of their lifes in the workplace environment. Physical, social and psychosocial work environment characteristics become an important issue for employees. While physical work environment characteristics attract notice on manufacturing focused jobs, social workplace characteristics come into prominence in the human relations intensive jobs. Workplace environment should pave the way for employee’s happiness due to the worklife. Work environment is also related with employee’s satisfaction, commitment and performance. Inappropriate work environment may compose negative impacts for employees. Individual performance states the employee’s contribution to actualise the corporational aims. Most of innovative approaches in business life have the aim of increasing organisational performance with individual performance enhancement. Along with task performance, contextual performance concept raise in value in last years . In this study, it is analysed the impact of perceived work environment characteristics over the task and contextual performance of doctors. Study is actualised in the two governmental hospitals in Adana. The datas, which were obtained from doctors by questionnaire forms, were analysed with statistical methods. In the results of the study it is determined that work environment characteristics have influence over the task and contextual performance variation of the doctors.
