Abstract

The main aim of the study is to investigate the effect of the ISO 9001 quality management system on firm performance by conducting an empirical literature review. In achieving this goal, the effect of the ISO 9001 quality management certificate on firm performance was examined by separating it into financial and non-financial dimensions. Selected ISO 9001 empirical studies were appropriately analyzed for the purpose of this study. The analysis of the study shows that ISO 9001 quality management system is not consistent and clear on the effect of financial and non-financial performance on firms. In addition to this result, firms before adapting the ISO 9001 quality management system, were recognized as being profitable firms and after ISO 9001 being adapted, they better internalized the ISO 9001 quality management system into their processes.
