Abstract
Roman; yazarının sadece bir olay, durum üzerine yaşadığı duyguların ya da düşündüklerinin basit toplamının üzerinde bir edebi türdür. Özellikle toplumsal yaşamı etkileyen her şey, edebiyattaki karşılığını, çoğunlukla romanda bulmuştur. Bu bakımdan; Cumhuriyet sonrası Türk toplumsal ve siyasal yaşamının önemli kilometre taşlarından olan “Çok Partili Hayata Geçiş (1946)”, Türk romanındaki karşılığını, özellikle, Toplumcu Gerçekçi sanat anlayışını benimsemiş romancıların 1930-1960 dönemindeki eserlerinde görür. Bu çalışmanın amacı; Toplumcu Gerçekçi Türk romancılarından biri kabul edilen Samim Kocagöz’ün, “Yılan Hikâyesi” adlı romanında, Demokrat Parti’nin özellikle ilk yıllarında, Türk köylüsü için neden bir “umut” olarak görüldüğüne dair çözümlemeler ve değerlendirmeler yapmaktır.

Abstract
Novel is a literary genre above the simple sum of the emotions or thoughts of the author about a particular situation. In particular, everything that affects social life finds a reciprocation in literature, mostly in the novel. From this perspective "Transition to Multi-Party System (1946)" as one of the most important milestones of Turkish social and political life after the establishment of the republic, finds its reciprocation in the Turkish novel, especially in the works of novelists who adopted the Socialist Realistic understanding of art in the period of 1930-1960. The aim of this study is to analyze and evaluate the reasons why Democratic Party was perceived as "hope" for and by Turkish peasants especially during the first years of the party within the framework of "Yılan Hikayesi" by Samim Kocagöz who is accepted as one of the socialist realist Turkish novelists.
