Important: The author should upload the article with an anonymous copy when uploading your article because the arbitration system of double-blind peer review is valid.

Peer Review Process: Peer review is the major quality maintenance measure for any academic journal. In this process, experts in the relevant fields analyze the scholarly work from every perspective, including its writing, the accuracy of its technical content, its documentation, and its impact on and significance to the discipline. Reviewers play a pivotal role in scholarly publishing, and their valuable opinions certify the quality of the article under consideration. Peer review helps to ratify research, establishing a standard for evaluation within research communities.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

The following ethical duties and responsibilities have been prepared by considering the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers must respect confidentiality in the article review. The content of the article should not be discussed with other researchers before an article is published. Unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript under review must not be quoted or referenced by a reviewer without the express written consent of the author, requested through the editor. Information or ideas obtained through article evaluation should be kept confidential and not be used for personal advantage.

Manuscripts should be reviewed objectively according to the reviewers' expertise in the field. The importance of a manuscript’s contribution to existing research in its field, the quality of articulation of an argument, and the strength of evidence provided are critical factors in reviewing a manuscript’s quality. personal opinions without evidence should not be included in the article review.

If the reviewer realizes that after receiving an article for review, he is involved in the identified research, the referee should report it to the editor and refuse to review it if he knows the researcher participating in the research or for any reason cannot give an objective review of the article. Conflicts of interest may include competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or links with any of the authors, companies, or institutions linked to the article being examined.
The reviewers should indicate the relevant published important works that have not been cited by the authors. the reviewer should inform the editor if there is a significant similarity or overlap between the article in question and other published articles with personal information.

Duties of Editors

The Editors send all studies submitted for publication to at least two referees who are experts in their scientific fields. The arbitration system of double-blind peer review is applied to be examined by the responsible editor and at least two referees. Editors protect the identity of the author (s) and referees throughout the review process. Editors must not cite or referance unpublished materials in a submitted article without the express written consent of the author.  Information or ideas obtained in peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.

Decisions regarding the publication are taken objectively by the JAVStudies Board after the review of the submitted article and the peer reviews. The critical factors in the publication decision of the article are the importance of its contribution to the current research in its field, the quality of the discussion and the strength of the evidence provided.

A manuscript rejected by the reviewers is not re-evaluated for publication. Editors are not allowed to publish or co-publish articles on JAVStudies, and they must refuse themselves from the review process when they publish a research paper when they have a conflict of interest or personal interests.

Duties of Authors

JAVStudies expects that studies submitted to be considered for publication are the author(s) own original work, are not currently under review elsewhere, and have not been previously published in any language. Intihal.net software is used to check for plagiarism and/or previous publication, and HBDS rejects articles that have substantial proportions of text that are copied from other sources.

The names of the authors included in the articles should be limited to those who make important contributions to the article. For articles written by academics, authorship credits should provide all three of the conditions specified by the Editorial thics Committee (COPE): 1) making substantial contributions to the conception, design, or interpretation of data; 2) drafting or critically revising an article for important intellectual content; and 3) final approval of the article to be published.

The authors of original research articles should present a balanced discussion of its importance, as well as the correct evaluation of their work. Basic data should be accurately represented in the article; Adding data or removing outliers is unacceptable. The results should be based on the evidence presented in the article, not on personal opinions. If major errors / inaccuracies occur after submitting an article, HBDS expects the authors to immediately contact the Editorial Staff so that appropriate corrections can be made on time. An article is based on previously published works. The author (s) should interpret the ideas or results previously published elsewhere in their own words and list these works in the article by citing them in the references. It is not good to express facts or ideas without showing evidence to support these statements.

Human Behavior, Development & Society (HBDS) expects that experiments using human subjects have been conducted in compliance with international standards and research protocols, and that they received prior review and approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or ethics committee. Such approval and the approving entity’s name should be specified.

PUBLICATION POLICIES AND AUTHOR GUIDELINES

General Principles

  1. JAVStudies (Journal of Academic Value Studies) is an international refereed, field indexed e-journal published quarterly in in March, June, September and December) Special or additional issues may also be published in case of necessity.
  2. JAVStudies publishes studies on economics, business administration, finance, political science, public administration, local government issues, urbanization, social services, labor economics, international relations, finance, econometrics, tourism, foreign trade, agricultural economics, engineering, engineering economics, health management and logistics management. Only original manuscripts are considered for publications.
  3. Manuscripts submitted to JAVStudies must not have been published or be under consideration for publication in any other platform at the time of submission. Authors are responsible for any problems likely to arise from this publication activity.
  4. This journal provides immediate open access to its content. By "open access" to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.
  5. Those who want to submit a manuscript to JAVStudies for publication must register for the Essay Tracking System and submit their work thereby (javstudies.com). Since, at the stage of publication, the name which was used for registration is going to be added to the works that are considered worthy of being published, the authors have to register for Essay Tracking System with the name they use in course of their academic activities.
  6. The submittance of any manuscript to the electronic system of JAVStudies is considered as an application for the publication of it in the journal and the assessment process of the manuscript begins.
  7. All of the procedures in the process starting with the application until the publication of the manuscript are carried out electronically.
  8. Publication and copyrights of the manuscripts that are sent to the JAVStudies to be published are transferred to the journal. Those manuscripts may not be published, reproduced or used without reference in any form of publication medium, without the prior permission of the board of the journal. JAVStudies keeps the right to publish in other media the texts that it previously published.
  9. Any kind of legal, juridical, economic or ethical liability likely to arise because of the manuscripts sent to JAVStudies belongs to the author of the script, even after the publication. The Journal acknowledges no responsibility.
  10. JAVStudies is a bilingual journal that publishes original articles in Turkish and English.

 Evaluation Process

  1. No names or information to uncover the identity of the author should be included in the manuscripts submitted to the system of JAVStudies. The information regarding the authors of the manuscripts that are accepted after the assessment of the referees will be added by the editors during publication.
  2. Each manuscript submitted to the system of JAVStudies is firstly evaluated by the editor or assistant editors in terms of relevance to the principles of spelling and publication. At the end of this evaluation, if there are any corrections to be made, the manuscript will be returned by the editors to the author to make the necessary changes.
  3. The manuscripts that do not correspond to the principles of spelling will not be forwarded to referees.
  4. The names of the referees and authors are confidential to each other and the system of ”blind review” is employed during the review process.
  5. The names of the referees and authors are confidential to each other.
  6. Each article is assigned to two reviewers. A manuscript that receives two favorable referee reports is qualified for publication. If a manuscript receives one favorable and one unfavorable report, it is forwarded to a third referee whose decision determines the final outcome. Manuscripts that receive two unfavorable reviews are automatically rejected.
  7. Revised and resubmitted manuscripts may be forwarded to the initial reviewers who determine within a week whether their concerns are successfully addressed.
  8. The referees may want to see the manuscripts for which they asked corrections. In case that demand is stated in the report, the corrected form of the text will automatically be sent to the referee by the system.
  9. The authors may object to the referee’s report within a reasonable frame and with convincing data. The objections are investigated by the board of the journal and if relevant, another referee (or referees) may be consulted about the subject.
  10. For the manuscripts submitted to the electronic system of JAVStudies, the authors may trace in which phase of the evaluation process their text is at that moment, by using their membership information. The process of refereeing should be followed carefully, and since the system allows corrections for once only, the author is recommended to wait until both of the referees complete their evaluation and upload their reports into the system.
  11. In order to facilitate international citations, all papers published in JAVStudies, including those written in Turkish, must include an abstract in English. The abstract should be no shorter than 150 words and no longer than 300 words. Three to 5 keywords must also be provided by the authors.

Article Processing Charges

  1. JAVStudies is an open access journal that publishes free of charge online. The articles published in the journal are not sold and there is no paid subscription to the journal. The design of the manuscripts, their introduction to international indexes and purchasing of DOI numbers are carried out by Asos Yayincilik Egitim ve Danismanlik Hiz. San. Tic. Ltd. Co. For a submission to advance in the review process, the mandatory publication fee must be remitted by depositing funds in a designated account with the statement of “Author Name Last Name -JAVStudies APC”. The account number and other information related to the APC ($100 ABD) are sent to the authors after they upload their articles. It is highly recommended that authors email the ‘proof of payment’ receipt to javstudies@gmail.com to expedite the review process.

 Principles For Spelling

  1. At the beginning of the original essays submitted to JAVStudies for being published, there must be included, in English, at least 150-word and at most 200-word Abstract, Keywords consisting of 3 to 5 words, and JEL Codes.
  2. All published manuscripts must include a reference list (REFERENCES) which contains all the sources cited in the main text. The reference list must be alphabetized. Studies not cited in the manuscript should not be included in the REFERENCES.
  3. At the end of the text, a list of the sources used in the text should be given under the title REFERENCES. In this list of references used in the text, the last names of authors are given in alphabetical order of names of the authors.
  4. The manuscripts should not include headers, footers or page numbers.
  5. For spelling and punctuation, the dictionary of spelling by the Turkish Language Association will be used as a source, except the differences based on the content of the text.
  6. For the studies in which a special font type that is not included in Microsoft Word program is used, the font file should also be submitted to the system together with the essay.
  7. The manuscripts to be submitted to the system should be formatted by the author based on the following criteria:

Paper feed: A4 Vertical (No horizontal lines should be included in the essay)

            Bottom Margin: 2 cm

            Left Margin: 2 cm

Font Size: 14 point for the title, 11 for the text, 9 for the abstract and 8 for the footness

Paragraph Spacing: First 6 nk – then 0 nk, Abstarct: First 0 nk – then 0 nk
