Abstract

Abstract

Human development is a concept emerging from the global debate on economic growth and development after the second half of the 20th century. In this sense, GDP, which is used in many countries as a pioneering goal and indicator of national progress, is not enough to meet the basic needs of people alone. Therefore, not only the economic wealth, but also the richness of human life is one of the important concepts. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the Human Development Index according to the situation of employment development of Turkey. According to the findings of the study, according to the employment development status, it is seen that the Human Development Index of the first region (0,628), the second region (0,547), the third region (0,488), the fourth region (0,457), the fifth region (0,481) and the sixth region (0,383). According to this; on the basis of the regions in Turkey, the first region has reached the middle level and the remaining five regions have achieved a low level of Human Development. Also, the Human Development Index of the Third, Fourth and Fifth regions is very close to the level of the middle level Human Development. In this sense, it can be said that Turkey has a medium level of Human Development. This study also provides information on life expectancy at birth, expected schooling year, average schooling age and national income per capita, and future studies provide an infrastructure for the assessment of the Human Development Index.
