Article Submission Fee
JAVStudies is an open-access journal that publishes free of charge online. Articles published in the journal are not sold, and there are no paid subscriptions. Therefore, a submission fee is required after the article is uploaded, regardless of acceptance or rejection. The fee must be deposited into the relevant account with the description "Author Name Surname - JAVStudies article submission fee." The account number and other details are sent to the corresponding author after the article is uploaded. The submission fee is 50 USD, but it is 30 USD for student authors or those from Central Asian Turkic Republics and low- or lower-middle-income countries. No additional fees are charged for article acceptance or publication. No refunds are provided for rejected articles, but authors whose articles are rejected are granted one free submission within a year.
Writing Guidelines
Articles must be formatted according to the writing guidelines before being uploaded to the website. Articles found non-compliant during the preliminary evaluation will be requested to be re-uploaded. Abstracts and texts written in non-native languages must be proofread. To view the writing guidelines, please click here.
Article Upload
Those wishing to submit articles for publication in JAVStudies must register and submit their work at javstudies.com. The addition of any article to the JAVStudies system is considered a submission for publication, and the evaluation process begins. All processes, from submission to publication, are conducted online. To view the registration and upload process guide, please click here.
Preliminary Evaluation
Articles uploaded to the JAVStudies system are evaluated by the editor-in-chief or field editors for compliance with publication principles and writing guidelines before the peer review process. If revisions are required, the article is returned to the author. Articles that do not comply with the publication principles and writing guidelines are not sent to reviewers and are returned to the author for revision.
Peer Assignment
Articles deemed suitable for evaluation in terms of publication principles, writing guidelines, scope, and ethics are assigned at least two expert reviewers. Reviewers are selected from the journal's database of hundreds of reviewers. Authors may suggest one or more reviewers related to their field of study. If deemed appropriate by JAVStudies editors and in line with ethical principles, these reviewers are assigned to evaluate the article. However, suggested reviewers must be registered with JAVStudies and must have selected the reviewer option during registration. Reviewers have a maximum of 15 days to evaluate the assigned article. If no report is submitted within this period, a new reviewer is assigned, or additional time is granted.
Double-Blind Peer Review Policy
Our journal applies a "double-blind peer review" policy. Under this policy, the identities of reviewers and authors are kept confidential. Articles must be uploaded anonymously by the author during the initial submission. Even if the author suggests reviewers and the editor accepts them, the author is not informed about which reviewers are assigned. Peer review is a quality control measure for academic journals. During this process, experts in the relevant fields analyze scientific works in terms of writing, technical accuracy, documentation, and their impact and importance to the field. Reviewer feedback helps improve the quality of the article under review. Peer review is conducted based on four options: a) Accept, b) Major revision, c) Minor revision, d) Reject. Articles receiving two "accept" decisions are published. Articles receiving one "accept" and one "reject" are sent to a third reviewer, and the publication decision is based on the third reviewer's report. Articles receiving two "reject" decisions are not published. Reviewers may request two types of revisions: major revisions, which require re-evaluation after author revisions, and minor revisions, which lead to direct acceptance.
Appeal Process
Authors may appeal reviewer decisions with compelling reasons. Appeals are evaluated by the journal editors, and if deemed appropriate, additional reviewers may be consulted.
Publication
Journal editors carefully monitor peer review evaluations. The editorial board makes the final decision on whether to publish an article based on reviewer evaluations.
Process Tracking
Authors can track the status of their submissions through their membership accounts.
