Abstract

Organizational culture is known as crucially important for companies to adapt rapidly changing environment, gain competitive advantage and able to act with members. This makes organizational culture a strategic issue for the practitioners and researchers and raises the number of organizational culture studies and organizational culture models presented in the literature. The aim of this study is present the disorganized information systematically to other researchers who will study organizational culture by profiling the dimensions which are used in organizational culture models. For this purpose, 20 organizational culture models which are frequently used in the literature have been examined and the dimensions used for the formation of typologies have been determined. As a result of the study, 47 different dimensions were seen to play a role in the formation of organizational culture models. Risk, individual focus, environment/environmental adaptation, values, intra-group communication, objectives, organizational structure, control/control mechanism, authority and competition are frequently encountered dimensions in the formation and interpretation of organizational culture typologies. The basic dimensions obtained with the study are considered to play a leading role practitioners and researchers in their studies about the organizational culture. Also these dimensions are referring the basic point to look at for creating successful organizations by bringing in perspective about organizational culture models.
