Abstract

One of the important elements that constitute healthy societies is the education system and the most dynamic elementary school for the efficient operation of this system. Motivation and attitude are very important in the teaching profession since teachers can influence their students positively or negatively while performing their profession. This research was conducted to determine whether the attitudes and motivation levels of teacher candidates who are studying in the 4th grade of the Akdeniz University Faculty of Education and the pedagogical formation education teachers in the Faculty of Education differ according to some variables. Survey method was used as data collection tool in the research. Within the scope of the research, 400 questionnaire data were included in the analyzes. 54.3% of them were pedagogical formation education teachers and 45.8% of them were teacher candidates who were in education faculties. Independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to test whether the motivations and attitudes of prospective teachers in the pedagogical formation education and education faculty of the fourth grade differed in terms of some variables. According to the findings of the research, it was determined that the motivational grades of the teacher candidates differ according to the education type, but they do not differ according to the gender, age, the graduated department and the graduated graduate. While the attitudes of the teacher candidates differed according to sex and education type; (p<0.01) were not found to be different from the age, the department that they read, and the department where they graduated.
