Abstract

Firms permanantly make an effort to achieve a competitive position and shape their activities to protect these positions. In order to achieve this, raising the productivity level of the personnel is one of the most important factors. When it comes to the hotel business, emotional labour becomes prominent as one of the most important factors that have the potential to increase the efficiency of the staff. The concept of emotional labor is briefly expressed in terms of the emotions that the service personnel reflect through their behaviors and how they are structured and managed in accordance with the organizational policies of the organizations. The surface, genuine and deep acting that reflect the emotional states of the employees constitute the sub-dimensions of the emotional labor concept. Organizational identity is another organizational issue that means a perceived oneness with an organization and the experience of the organization’s successes and failures as one’s own. These two concepts were examined in the research and it was aimed to determine whether the organizational identification has a meaningful effect on the emotional labor levels of the employees. In the study conducted in line with this aim, a questionnaire study was carried out involving the staff working in licensed tourism establishment in Elazığ province. The data presented by the questionnaire was subjected to regression analysis in the SPSS statistical program. According to the findings of the analyzes; it has been found that organizational identification has a significant effect on each sub-dimension of the emotional labor factor.
