Abstract

The study examines the influence of demographic factors on psychological contract along with intent to leave job and career management. It employs the career management scale developed by Sturges et al. (2002), the career development scale developed by Kılıç and Öztürk (2009) on the basis of a literature review and expert opinion, the psychological contract scale developed by Millward and Hopkins (1998), the scale for psychological contract violations developed by Robinson and Rousseau (1994), and the scale for intent to leave job developed by Camman et al. (1983). The reliability coefficients of the relevant scales were found as follows: career development ?=0,912, career management ?=0,905, career planning ?=0,836, intent to leave job?=0,922, psychological contract (transactional) ?=0,654, psychological contract (relational)?=0,722. Within the study, a survey was conducted among the employees in the Central Directorate as well as İzmit Regional Directorate and its central branch of a public bank. The survey sample consisted of 321 employees. SPSS 17 software was used to analyse the survey data.
