Abstract

This study presents an analysis of the self-worth, peer relationships and their parent’s parental competence of the children and youngsters in probation system as a community-based model. Self-worth, peer relationships and parental competence are determinative dynamics that should be assessed in probation practices and in the delivering of professional services. Low self-worth, relationships with negative role model, inclusion in gang groups, parents have low parental competence cause some negative outputs such as; children and youngsters do not to fulfill their obligations, do not to fit into society and re-offending. In probation system, counseling services should be provided for children and youngsters to feel themselves valuable, competent and effective, the organization of peer relations, the development of parents' parental skills. Peer and parent participation and taking active role in the process of the planned intervention and practices for children and youngsters constitutes an important dimension of treatment. Especially these factors have critical importance for effective intervention programs for children and youngsters in probation system.
