Abstract

One of the most important reasons for organizations succeed is thought to be the human capital which they have. In addition, the need for organizations to have qualified personnel is obvious. It is also thought that employees will motivate them to do things that will satisfy them spiritually. In this context, it is possible for the employees that performs the essential work in the organization to feel unhappy due to the lack of work to do or feel unhappy about the reasons such as being under the capacity of the task it is undertaking. The situation described as Boreout Syndrome in the article is defined as the state of occupation and feeling of boredom due to lack of work after the work is done, and the result of this syndrome seems to have negative consequences. In this context, occupational boredom may cause them to feel negative feelings about their profession. Within the scope of the research, the relationship between career adabtability and career optimism of boreout syndrome was examined using data (n = 250) obtained from Selcuk University administrative staff. As a result of the findings, a relationship between "boreout and career adaptibility" was found to be negative and significant (r = -.399, p = 0.000 <0.05). Another finding was a negative correlation between boreout and career optimism (r = -.230, p = 0.016 <0.05). It is thought that the research will contribute to the field in terms of the fact that the work on the concepts of career optimism and career adaptability with boreout is very limited.
