Abstract

The importance of communication and knowledge technologies started to get higher values in the field of organizational field, and these changes have an input on using the human resource effectively and efficiently. Especially, parallel to the advancement in the technological life, the importance of cyber applications in which personality has an input, come to the front as a topic to be searched deeply. Thus, with the idea if important topic that includes examining the relationships and effects of these two topic, in this study we examined the relationships between personality and cyberloafing. The personality traits are gathered from Big-5 model. For this aim, we used a survey method with 471 participants, and used regression analyses. We found that extraversion and openness to experience have significant effects on cyberloafing. The results did not support our hypoyheses for agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticisism personality traits. But, as a whole, we found that personality has a significant effect on cyberloafing.
