Abstract

Along with globalization, recent developments in the field of leadership have also been influential in the field of leadership, and the role of change-oriented leadership has been increasingly important. As leaders' practices are part of the business management, leaders who adopt a transformational leadership style are behaving in a way that takes into account the individual development needs of viewers, looking for creative solutions to problems, raising high expectations, accepting targets as a whole and creating a common vision for the future. A leader with transformational leadership behavior aims to encourage and inspire them to make their employees perform better than expected. In this way, transformational leaders facilitate the success of businesses and increase the organizational commitment of employees. The main goal of this study is to determine the relationship and influence between the transformational leadership and organizational commitment and to determine whether the assumed associative performance of employee has an intermediary role. The research universe consists of flight and maintenance personnel working in aviation companies that make passenger and cargo transportation in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. 508 data obtained by questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. In the study, descriptive statistics and relational and transactional analyzes were conducted respectively. As a result, it has been seen that the transformational leadership has predicted organizational commitment and that the associated performance of employee has a partial mediating role. Within this context, there are recommendations that will be useful to the sectoral enterprises, as well as managers and employees.
