Abstract

Abstract In today's enterprises, aggression behaviors lead to many negative consequences. To mitigate these negative consequences or to prevent aggressive behavior, they must establish a positive workplace spirit that will ensure the resilience of workers by organizational managers. Main aim of this study is detecting the effects of perceived workplace spirituality types’ on individual aggressive behaviors. During the search, the effects of workplace spirituality analyzed in three dimensions (structure and clearness, relations among people, working environment and risk) on aggressive behaviors analyzed in four groups (abuse of office, being dishonest, negative relationships among people and mistrust and irreverence). The main purpose of this research is; to determine the effects of perceived workplace spirituality on interpersonal aggressive behaviors. In this study, the effects of workplace spirituality (the attractiveness of the work, mysterious experience, spiritual bond and community sentiment), which were examined in three dimensions, on the aggressive behaviors (hostile behaviors, barring behaviors and open aggressive behaviors) were investigated in three groups. The topics of workplace spirituality and aggressive behavior in organizations attracted the attention of the researchers and were examined in various aspects. However, no theoretical or experimental research has been found on the relationships between workplace spirituality and aggressive behavior in domestic and foreign literature. In this respect, the study is expected to contribute to Turkish and foreign literature on the subject. Two models were developed in the study. In the first model, perceived “workplace spirituality” was found to be effective on “hostile behaviors” (R2 = 0.513), “barring behavior” (R2 = 0.039) and “open aggressive behaviors” (R2 = 0.371), respectively. In the second model, it was found that the types of workplace spirituality that cause aggressive behaviors were above “the attractiveness of the work” (R2 = 0.137), “mysterious experience” (R2 = 0.413) and “spiritual bond and community sentiment” (R2 = 0.237), respectively. As a result, it was revealed that the lack of perceived workplace spirituality is one of the important causes of aggressive behaviors within the organization.
