Abstract

In recent years, the increasing number of researches conducted in the field of leadership and handling of the subject in many different sectors and with different variables have laid the groundwork for the emergence of new approaches to leadership. Identification with leader is one of the new but relatively underlined issues. Identification with leader is a communication process in which followers’ goals are aligned with the goals of their leaders. Followers who identify with their leaders are committed to the goals of their leaders. In this study, the attitudes of employees in hotel business to identify with the leader were investigated. The universe of the research is made up of the employees of the hotel enterprises in Antalya with the tourism operation document. The sample was determined by stratified sampling method. The data used in the research were obtained by questionnaire technique. The questionnaires were applied by face-to-face method. Data were analyzed with the SPSS program. Descriptive statistics, factor, t-test and one-way anova analyzes were used in the analyzes. As a result, it was found that hotel employees had a middle level of identification with the leader and this attitude significantly differentiated according to the marital status, term of employement at the hotel and the type of position.
